Mental Health Courses

Managing Workplace Mental Health

  • This course has been developed by TPS Wellbeing experts to give managers and supervisors the confidence and knowledge to prevent, identify and respond to mental health concerns in the workplace.

    Drawing from best practice, this 8 step course is a must for any businesses serious in the wellbeing of its people. Check out the benefits section to see the extent of this training.

  • This is a 3.5-hour training course.

    We recommend investing in the whole day and including the MHFA Awareness course, which is certified by MHFA England.

  • Managers who are able to support the mental health of their teams will encourage employees to thrive, increasing talent retention. Providing this training to everyone with people management responsibilities will ensure a consistent approach to mental health and wellbeing across teams and departments, promoting healthy performance throughout the whole organisation.

    Managers will learn to:

    • Identify if an employee may be experiencing mental health issues.

    • Feel confident having conversations about mental health with their team members.

    • Understand how unconscious bias impacts communication.

    • Appropriately signpost to available support.

    • Respond to crisis.

    • Manage absences and return to work plans.

    • Role model self-care practice, inspiring their teams to look after their own mental health and wellbeing.

    TPS Wellbeing is passionate about delivering training that will be cost effective and do not supply online ‘click and go’ training. Delegates tell us they prefer face to face interactions where they can question the experts and learn from their peers.

Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA)

  • This two day course trains your employees as Mental Health First Aiders, giving them:

    • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing

    • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of a range of mental health issues

    • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress using the Mental Health First Aid action plan

    • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening

    • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether through self-help resources, internal support such as EAP, or external sources such as their GP

    • An understanding of how to keep themselves safe while performing their duties

  • Two-day face-to-face course delivered across four manageable sessions.

    Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.

    Each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan.

    We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

  • Everyone who completes the course gets:

    • A certificate of attendance to say they are a Mental Health First Aider

    • A manual to refer to whenever they need it

    • A quick reference card for the Mental Health First Aid action plan

    • A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support their own mental health

    • A copy of the Line Managers' Resource, an invaluable source of advice on how to support an employee experiencing mental ill health

Conflict Resolution In The Workplace

  • Designed to allow frontline staff to identify the stages of conflict escalation and use communication to defuse the situation. Delivered by qualified instructors with background in emergency services, this course is a must for any organisation who face the public.

Our training, delivered by Chartered Safety Practitioners ensures that managers and supervisors will be equipped to assess the risk to the wellbeing of their workforce and visitors.
