Mental Health Skills for Supervisors

Empower managers to put wellbeing at the heart of their leadership approach with this practical and immersive online course
The relationship between managers and their team members is key for the health and wellbeing of the whole organisation. Delivered by workplace mental health experts, this course builds skills in your leaders to feel confident to have mental health conversations as part of their everyday management.

From half a day to 2 days, depending on whether it’s the half-day awareness course or the gold standard Mental Health First Aid certificate.

Managers who are able to support the mental health of their teams will encourage employees to thrive, increasing talent retention. Providing this training to everyone with people management responsibilities will ensure a consistent approach to mental health and wellbeing across teams and departments, promoting healthy performance throughout the whole organisation.
Managers will learn to:
Identify if an employee may be experiencing mental health issues
Feel confident having open conversations about mental health with their team members
Appropriately signpost to available support and know where to go for support and guidance for themselves
Role model good self-care practice, inspiring their teams to look after their own mental health and wellbeing

Four hour course delivered through the MHFA England Online Learning Hub
Immersive live training session, led by an experienced associate Instructor Member
Flexible integrated platform gives learners opportunities to practice embedding their skills through group activities and discussions to share best practice
The course can be delivered to a maximum of 16 people to allow for rich discussion

Return to Work and Mental Health

Return to Work and Mental Health is a new course for HR professionals. Using a unique training blend of HR and mental health expertise, this course allows you to support the mental health of returning employees, empowering them to thrive and stay in work.

This course is delivered online.
The course can be delivered to between 8 and 12 people to allow for rich discussion.

Understand the conditions that employees need to flourish when they return to work.
Build their own toolkit to apply in a range of return to work situations.
Learn to provide practical support to managers dealing with employee return to work after long term absence.

Learning takes place through two 3.5 hour live sessions spread across up to two weeks. Learners must complete two hours of individual learning before each session.

Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA)

This two day course trains your employees as Mental Health First Aiders, giving them:
An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of a range of mental health issues
Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress using the Mental Health First Aid action plan
Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether through self-help resources, internal support such as EAP, or external sources such as their GP
An understanding of how to keep themselves safe while performing their duties

Two-day face-to-face course delivered across four manageable sessions.
Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.
Each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan.
We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

A manual to refer to whenever they need it
